airshow, or not!!!

So last Saturday we decided to take the kids to Virginia Beach to see an airshow. We were all so excited, especially Gavin. It is sprinkling here a little bit but Jonathan was sure that they would not cancel it, so off we drove for 2 hours. Yep, it was canceled:) So we went to the beach, mind you it is now pouring!!!! So we all got our umbrellas and headed for the boardwalk. Gavin decided that he would wash off under one of the showers that they have there (fully dressed). We got some yummy, overly priced subway and dairy queen and then headed home. Since Gavin was soaked we stripped him down and gave him a blanket. It wasn't what we had planned but just spending time with our family was a blast!!! I sure do love these silly munchkins:)

9 months old

Seriously where is time going? I just can't believe that this little guy is only three months away from being a year old. Carter is such a sweet baby.
  • He weighs 16lbs and he is 27 in long.
  • He has three teeth now.
  • He is crawling everywhere and getting into everything.
  • He LOVES his sister and brother!!!
  • He is still not a huge fan of food, unless he can feed himself.
  • He is still getting up a couple times a night.
  • We just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this little guy!!!

Gavin's first day of preschool x 2

I am a little behind on my blogging:) So my sweet, rambunctious, little boy has started preschool. We started a preschool and had a little "hiccup". I quickly began looking for a preschool that would best help Gavin prepare for Kindergarten and we found it. He has a WONDERFUL teacher Mrs. Barney, whom he just adores. He is excited to go everyday, yes everyday:)

Haha, this picture was the first day of the first preschool--I put him in the same shirt for both first days:) hope that made sense!!!

1st day of 1st grade

Earthquake, Hurricane, and fun times

On August 23rd. we experienced a 5.8 earthquake. The kids and I were at home and the house started shaking and I started freaking out:) Good I know. I yelled to the kids to go to the basement so we all ran to the stairs and then I realized that that was what we do in a tornado and not an earthquake, so then I YELL for everyone to stop and I just stood there trying to remember where to go (#1 mom award right here) and then it stopped:) Needless to say, the earthquake scared me and I scared my kids:) Right afterwards I tried to call Jonathan but couldn't get through, so I called my mom and told her that I thought we had just had an earthquake, but it could have just been me shaking because I was STILL shaking!!! Okay so this was on Tuesday and on Saturday the 27th we had a Hurricane. Really we just got a LOT of rain and wind. A couple of exciting things did happen. First on our way to the gym the van was making a funny noise, but on we went. Well as I started driving home the van started making a grinding noise and Jonathan yelled for me to pull over. So I had just gotten the oil changed on Monday so Jonathan decides that is a good place to start and checks--NO OIL!!! Completely dry!!! We are shocked, and remember there is a hurricane going on outside!!! So there is a grocery store a block down the road and I had my wallet and Jonathan did not, so lucky me got to walk to the grocery store in the Hurricane to buy oil. An angel stopped and gave me a ride back to our van and then she even held her large umbrella over Jonathan while he put the oil in--yes she was a saint!!! So then we headed back to Jiffy Lube to find out what happened. Turns out they didn't tighten something--GREAT!!!! The wind was picking up so much now that things in the Jiffy Lube garage are blowing everywhere!!! Well Jonathan had decided to take me out for our anniversary (remember the camping?:), so off the two of us head in the Hurricane to go out to dinner. We were the only ones foolish enough to be on the roads and then we had to walk from our car to the restaurant--yes we arrived SOAKED, and FREEZING!!! It was a little on the crazy side and I'm just glad that we didn't leave our children without both parents:) Okay so here are some cute pictures of our munchkins!!!

8 wonderful years!!!

So in June one of the assistants at the dental school came up to me and told me that Jonathan was planning on taking me camping for our anniversary. She said that she would talk some sense in him, and I told her there was NO WAY I was going camping on our anniversary. Well not only did we go camping we went camping with our kids, Jonathan's parents, his sister and her family, and his brother and his wife:) And we had a lot of fun!!! Jonathan's parents found a great cabin in the mountains. We stopped on the way there and picked peaches--oh I LOVE peaches!!! We were able to hike one of our favorite hike, Crab Tree Falls, which we did in the pouring rain. Gavin carried a DEAD grasshopper the whole way up and then back down. He said it was his pet and when I asked him why he would want a dead pet he responded, "because a dead one won't run away." Fair enough!!! So it was just sprinkling on our way up and Ry kept wanting to go back because of the rain, but on we went and the storm hit right when we got to the top. So we hiked all the way down in the pouring rain. Rylee was so mad and the whole time she kept informing us that we should of listened to her:) We had yummy food and a lot of fun!!! Maybe next year we will do something on our own (and I mean without our munchkins)
